Interventional Radiology

The term interventional radiology is used to describe a subspecialty field of radiology in which surgical and minimally invasive procedures are performed. These procedures are all performed under imaging guidance in the medical imaging department, angiography/vascular suite or operating theatre.

Interventional radiology techniques are used to diagnose and treat pathology.

Interventional radiology is performed by a sub specialised radiologist with the assistance of technical and, if necessary, nursing staff.
